Allowing Yourself to Receive Support

You Were Never Meant to Hold Everything Alone

Settle into your space for a moment.

Feel the surface beneath you.

Let your shoulders soften.

Take one slow breath and notice how little you have to do to receive it.

The Earth is holding you right now.

You do not have to earn that support.

You do not have to prove that you need it.

You simply have to allow yourself to notice that it is already there.

This month, we are exploring what it means to receive.

Not only abundance or opportunities, but care, rest, kindness, energy, and support.

Sometimes receiving can be harder than giving.

We become accustomed to being the one who handles things.

The one who keeps going.

The one who takes care of everyone else.

Over time, the body can begin to believe that being strong means carrying everything on its own.

But strength can also look like softening.

It can look like allowing yourself to receive support.

When Receiving Feels Unfamiliar

Notice what happens in your body when you imagine someone saying:

You do not have to carry this alone.

Perhaps something relaxes.

Or perhaps you notice resistance.

You may feel tension in your chest.

A tightening through your stomach.

A little voice that says you should be able to handle things yourself.

There is nothing you need to change about that response.

Simply notice it.

Our bodies often hold old patterns long after our minds have decided we are ready for something different.

Reiki gives us a gentle way to meet those places without forcing them to open.

Instead of asking your body to let go, you can offer it another experience.

You can show it what support feels like.

A Reiki Practice for Allowing Yourself to Receive Support

Find a comfortable position.

If it feels good, place one hand over your heart and the other over your lower belly.

Take a slow breath.

Feel the weight of your body being supported beneath you.

Now imagine a soft, warm light rising gently from the Earth.

There is no need to pull it toward you.

Simply imagine that it is already present beneath your feet and around your body.

As you breathe in, allow that warmth to move upward.

Through your feet.

Through your legs.

Into your belly.

Let it reach the hand resting there.

Stay for a breath or two.

Then notice the hand over your heart.

Imagine Reiki energy flowing through your palm as a soft light.

Let the energy from your hand meet the steady support rising from the Earth.

You are not reaching for either one.

You are receiving.

With your next breath, quietly remind yourself:

I am allowed to be supported.

Stay here for as long as feels comfortable.

Nothing needs to happen.

Your only practice is allowing.

Let the Earth Hold Some of the Weight

When you are ready, bring your attention back to the ground beneath you.

Notice its steadiness.

The Earth has been supporting your body throughout this entire practice.

You did not have to ask her to hold you.

You did not have to become worthy of her support first.

You simply arrived.

There is something beautiful to remember here.

Receiving does not always mean something new must come into your life.

Sometimes it means recognizing what has been holding you all along.

A breath.

A caring hand.

A quiet moment.

The ground beneath your feet.

The energy moving through your body.

Allowing yourself to receive support can begin with something as simple as noticing these small places where life is already meeting you.

What Are You Ready to Let Support You?

Before you finish, ask yourself gently:

Where in my life could I allow myself to be supported a little more?

You do not need to find an answer immediately.

Let the question rest somewhere inside you.

Perhaps the answer will arrive later in a conversation, a moment outside, or a quiet realization that you do not have to do something quite as alone as you thought.

Carry the Feeling of Support with You

Take one final slow breath.

Imagine the warmth from the Earth still beneath you and the gentle Reiki energy still within you.

Let them meet at the center of your body.

Then picture that warmth spreading softly outward, creating a quiet sense of steadiness around you.

You are still yourself.

You are still capable.

You are simply allowing yourself to receive support, too.

As you return to your day, remember the feeling of the ground beneath you.

You were never meant to carry everything alone.
