Grounding Your Energy Through Reiki
Letting Reiki Bring You Back into Your Body
Take a moment to notice where your body is right now.
Feel the surface beneath you.
Notice the weight of your body being supported by the chair, the floor, the bed, or the Earth itself.
Let your shoulders soften a little and allow your next breath to arrive without asking it to be any deeper or slower than it wants to be.
You do not have to reach for the Earth.
You are already here, held within her.
And sometimes, grounding begins simply by remembering that.
When Your Energy Needs Somewhere to Land
There are times when our energy seems to live everywhere except within us.
Our thoughts may race ahead into what needs to happen next.
Our attention may scatter among responsibilities, conversations, worries, and all the little things asking to be noticed.
Even when our physical body is sitting still, some part of us can feel as though it is hovering just above our own life.
Grounding invites that scattered energy home.
And grounding your energy through Reiki can offer a particularly gentle way to make that return.
Rather than forcing yourself to become centered, Reiki gives you an opportunity to notice your body again.
The warmth of your hands.
The movement of your breath.
The places where you feel tension and the places that already feel at ease.
As your awareness settles into these simple sensations, you may begin to feel yourself becoming more present.
Not separate from your surroundings.
Not floating above the moment.
But here, within a living body that belongs to a living Earth.
Feeling the Earth Beneath Your Reiki Practice
For this practice, you do not need to be outside.
The Earth does not disappear simply because there is a floor beneath your feet.
If it feels comfortable, place both feet on the ground.
If you are lying down or sitting in another position, simply notice the places where your body meets the surface supporting you.
Now place one hand over your lower belly and the other wherever it naturally wants to rest.
Perhaps over your heart, your hips, or your upper legs.
Notice the warmth beneath your palms.
Take an easy breath.
As you breathe out, imagine some of your awareness gently traveling downward through your body.
From your head into your shoulders.
From your shoulders into your chest and belly.
Through your hips and legs, all the way toward your feet.
There is nowhere you need to send your energy.
Instead, simply feel yourself becoming more aware of the body that is already here.
With your next few breaths, imagine the warmth beneath your hands spreading softly through you. Let it remind you of your physical presence.
Your breath moving.
Your heart beating.
Your body resting.
The Earth beneath everything.
Stay here for as long as feels supportive, allowing Reiki to become less about doing something to your energy and more about being fully present with it.

Reiki Hand Positions for Feeling Rooted
For grounding your energy through Reiki, try placing one hand over your lower belly and the other over your upper thigh or hip.
These positions bring your attention toward the lower half of your body and can serve as a simple sensory reminder to come out of the busy space of thought and notice your physical presence.
You might also place both hands over your lower belly if that feels more comforting.
There is no need to search for the "perfect" position.
Let your body have a voice in the practice.
Notice where your hands naturally want to rest and allow that instinct to be part of your connection.
What Changes When You Feel Yourself Here?
Before moving on, quietly ask yourself:
What do I notice now that I am more fully present in my body?
You do not need to find an important answer.
Perhaps you notice warmth beneath your palms.
A little more space around your thoughts.
The weight of your feet.
A place that still feels tense.
Or maybe you simply notice that you are here.
That is enough.
Carrying the Earth With You
When you are ready to close your practice, bring your awareness once more to the places where your body is supported.
Feel the ground beneath your feet or the surface beneath your body.
Take one comfortable breath and imagine your awareness settling gently into you, like soil settling after rain.
You do not need to hold tightly to this grounded feeling.
You do not need to keep yourself centered for the rest of the day.
Simply remember that you can return.
To your hands.
To your breath.
To your body.
To the Earth beneath you.
Grounding your energy through Reiki can become a small way of remembering this relationship again and again.
You are not trying to anchor yourself to something outside of you.
You are remembering that your body has belonged to the Earth all along.
