Listening Inwardly During the Teen Years

Welcome to Earthside, dear one.

A Quiet Place to Begin

You might have moments when you just know something, even if you can’t explain why.

Not in a loud way.

Not in a dramatic way.

Just a quiet sense, like a small nudge or a feeling that shows up before words do.

That kind of noticing isn’t strange. It’s not something you have to earn or prove. It’s simply part of being human.

Listening inwardly during the teen years often begins before there are clear words for it. It can feel like a quiet sense, a pause, or a knowing that shows up without explanation.

March is a time when curiosity wakes up again, both in nature and in us. This is a gentle place to notice what you notice, without trying to figure it all out.

Learning to Listen Without Rushing

Intuition isn’t a special skill that only some people have.

It isn’t about predicting the future or seeing things other people can’t.

Intuition is often just:

  • noticing how something feels in your body

  • sensing when something feels right or off

  • picking up on your own needs before you can explain them

Sometimes it’s a quiet yes.

Sometimes it’s a pause.

Sometimes it’s just a feeling that says, “Pay attention.”

You don’t have to act on it.

You don’t have to trust it perfectly.

You don’t even have to name it.

Noticing is enough.

The In-Between Is a Real Place

The Earth is always paying attention in small ways.

Plants turn toward light. Animals sense changes in weather. The ground responds to rain, warmth, and rest.

None of this is rushed.

None of it is forced.

The Earth doesn’t question whether it’s “doing it right.”

It just responds.

Your intuition works more like that.

Quiet.

Natural.

Responsive.

Autumn trees reflected in still water beneath a clear blue sky, creating a calm, mirrored landscape.

Curiosity Is Enough

(optional, only if it feels comfortable)

You don’t need to close your eyes or change your breathing.

Just take a moment to notice:

  • one sound you can hear

  • one thing you can see

  • one place where your body feels supported

That’s it.

This isn’t a test. There’s nothing to get right.

It’s just noticing what’s already here.

Letting the Earth Hold Some of the Weight

Sometimes intuition doesn’t feel clear at all.

Sometimes it feels mixed up with emotions, stress, or outside voices.

That’s normal.

You’re allowed to take your time.

You’re allowed to question what you feel.

You’re allowed to ask for help from people you trust when things feel unclear.

Listening to yourself doesn’t mean doing everything alone.

You Don’t Have to Arrive Anywhere

You don’t need to “develop” your intuition.

You don’t need to make sense of it.

This month, you might simply notice:

  • when something feels calming

  • when something feels heavy

  • when you need more space or rest

That’s already awareness.

Curiosity is enough for now.

Earthside is a quiet space for reflection. You don’t need to share or respond here. If something you’re feeling feels too heavy to carry alone, reaching out to a trusted adult can help.
